Considering a Colonic for Weight Loss in Bend, Oregon?

A colonic is a safe and effective method of removing waste from the large intestine without the use of drugs. People often refer to a colonic as “Colon Hydrotherapy” or “Colonic Irrigation”.

The colonic process involves Infusing filtered and temperature regulated water into the colon. The waste is softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis. The inflow of a small amount of water and the release of waste is repeated several times.

The removal of waste encourages better colon function and elimination. The specialized colonic equipment ensures you an easy, odorless and safe way of eliminating. Colon hydrotherapy is one of the most effective ways of cleansing the lower intestinal tract (colon) and detoxifying the overall digestive system.

A series of colonics can be a valuable tool in assisting the body with relief from a wide range of conditions. Some of the benefits after a series of colonics can include but are not limited to the following; more energy, clearer skin, weight loss, improved posture, flatter tummies, relief of headaches, less fatigue and improved bowel function. Many people who embark on a path of healing and detoxifying their body explore colon cleansing as one of many therapies to reach their health goals.

Why do I need a colonic?

The average American does not have a healthy colon. The typical American diet consisting of high fat, low- fiber, refined sugar, bleached flour, and processed food high in preservatives and toxins is the reason the colon becomes unhealthy. As these unnatural foods move through the colon, fluids are absorbed during the digestive process, and a very sticky waste is created. This waste clings to the colon walls and putrefies, giving off toxins. These toxins that are generated from the accumulated waste matter, when absorbed from within the body’s digestive system and into the bloodstream, can lead to self-poisoning and can negatively affect your physical, mental and emotional health, leading to very serious weight and health problems.

According to the American College of Gastroenterology, over 4 million Americans experience chronic constipation in any given year, and over 45 million Americans experience constipation symptoms every year! Common complaints are infrequent/difficult bowel movement, abdominal pains, and uncomfortable feelings of fullness.

Constipation is having bowel movements that occur less frequently than food intake – less than twice to three normal movements a day, every day. One bowel movement a day and incomplete elimination is a sign of constipation. Constipation slows down transit time. The slower transit increases fermentation and putrefaction of undigested food by bacteria and yeast. The bacteria and yeast give off toxic wastes in the form of acids and gasses. These substances also cause inflammation and damage the cells of the intestinal walls. These toxins enter the bloodstream through the intestinal wall causing many ailments from headaches to autoimmune disorders. Chronic constipation has also been linked to a number of more serious issues.

Annual laxative sales in America exceed $725 Million due to millions in search of constipation relief. Constipation and Irritable Bowel Syndrome can lead to severe migraine headaches, endometriosis, psoriasis, eczema, and other skin allergies.

Stress, cigarettes, alcohol, and consumption of animal products and sugar can exacerbate constipation and when combined with a lack of exercise the wide spread condition of constipation is not surprising. A Colon Cleanse can help you on the road to detoxification.

History of Colon Hydrotherapy

According to Wikipedia, the ancient Egyptians believed that toxins formed as a result of decomposition within the intestines and moved from there into the circulatory system, causing fever and the development of pus. The practice of colon hydrotherapy in its most basic form, the enema, was first recorded in 1500 B.C. in ancient Egyptian document called the “Eber Papyrus.”

The Ancient Greeks adopted and expanded the idea, applying their belief in the four humours. Galen, the greatest physician since Hippocrates, advanced the use of enema therapy. In earlier times, people implemented enema treatments in a river by using a hollow reed to induce water to flow into the rectum.

In the 19th century, studies in biochemistry and microbiology seemed to support the autointoxication hypothesis, and mainstream physicians promoted the idea. Daly notes that, historically, “purging was one of the few procedures that a physician could perform with visible, often impressive results and without immediate or obvious dangers”.

Ilya Ilyich Mechnikov (1845-1916) became the strongest supporter of the idea of colon cleansing; he thought that toxins could shorten the lifespan. Over time, the concept broadened to “auto-intoxication”, which supposes that the body cannot fully dispose of its waste products and toxins, which then accumulate in the intestine.

Dr. John Kellogg brought Colon Hydrotherapy to prominence in the United States during the early 1900’s. He reported in the 1917 Journal of American Medical Association that in over 40,000 cases, as a result of diet, exercise and colon hydrotherapy, “in all but twenty cases,” he had used no surgery for the treatment of gastrointestinal disease in his patients.

By the early 1950’s colon hydrotherapy was flourishing in the U.S. The prestigious Beverley Boulevard in California was then known as colonic row. Toward the mid- 1960’s, the use of colon irrigation and colon hydrotherapy slowly dwindled until approximately 1972 when most colon therapy instruments were removed from the hospitals and nursing homes. Medical doctors tended to favor the use of laxatives. The medical procedure known as the colostomy (removal of the colon) started at this time.
